🇧🇷 Salvador da Bahia Re-Vestida de Vermelhos       🇺🇸 Salvador Bahia Re-Dressed in Reds

🇧🇷 Salvador da Bahia Re-Vestida de Vermelhos é um trabalho de lugares, paisagens, cenas, esculturas e construções da cidade de Salvador, muitas vezes de alguns dos pontos ou monumentos mais conhecidos da cidade, outras vezes da orla marítima, e algumas vezes de temas menos clichês, que modifica a coloração das fotos para o vermelho ou outros tons próximos, como o púrpura, o rosa e o laranja. É semelhante à fotografia infra-vermelho mas não uso infra-vermelho nesse trabalho. 

Em uma parte menor da imagem, seja no centro, no topo ou num canto, uma janela ou fração conserva na foto as colorações naturais. Portanto existe, em cada foto, um contraste entre a cena avermelhada ou em tons semelhantes, a maior parte, e a cena nas colorações naturais, a menor parte. Os tons vermelho ou semelhantes trazem algo de fictício, enquanto os tons naturais trazem o real. O fictício está ali, porém sem se perder totalmente de vista o real. Ficção e realidade, à princípio, são opostos contrastantes, mas nesse trabalho estão contidos na mesma foto. As fotos não são totalmente realistas porque contém elementos (cores) não-realistas, fantásticas, e ao mesmo tempo não são totalmente fictícias, porque seu tema principal são lugares, paisagens, cenas, esculturas e construções completamente realistas. Se trata, portanto, de misturar a ficção com o real. Ficção e realidade estão misturados, às vezes se confundem, e a sensação ao olhar as fotos pode ser de que fica difícil saber até onde um vai e onde o outro começa. Também mistura o óbvio com o não-óbvio. Veste lugares, paisagens, cenas, esculturas e construções da cidade de Salvador de uma roupagem inusitada, fantástica, extravagante, e linda.

Considero que a primeira vez que as pessoas viram lugares, paisagens, cenas, esculturas e construções como esses, eles chamaram a atenção dessas pessoas, mas com o passar do tempo, quando isso já foi visto muitas vezes, quando as pessoas passam por ali mal olham, não dão mais atenção. Isso é a banalidade. Mas Salvador Re-Vestida de Vermelhos as convida a rever esses lugares,  paisagens, cenas, esculturas e construções não como são e elas estão acostumadas a ver, e sim de uma forma totalmente nova e bastante diferente. De uma forma que não se encontra no mundo real, apenas na obra fotográfica-artística. Os temas fotografados vistos de forma diferente do óbvio pela primeira vez portam uma VISUALIDADE INÉDITA, uma visualidade jamais experimentada antes. Isso quebra a monotonia, é a novidade. É re-trabalhar algo já existente e lhe conferir um novo aspecto. É re-vestir com uma roupagem nova. 

🇺🇸 Salvador Bahia Dressed in Reds is a photo work constituted of several city places, sights, scenes, sculptures and buildings in Salvador, Bahia, many times some very well known spots or monuments in town, other times of the seafront, and sometimes of lesser-known themes, that changes the coloring of photos to red or other similar tons, like purple, pink, or orange. It's similar to infra-red photography, but this is not the technique I use in this work. 

In a smaller part of the image, weather in the center, top or bottom, a window or fraction keeps the natural colors the way they are. So there is a contrast in each photo between the scene in red or similar tons, the greater part, and the scene in its natural colors, the smaller part. The red or close to red tons bring fiction to the image, whilst the natural colors of the scene bring reality to it. The fictitious is there, but without losing site of the real. Fiction and reality, at first, are contrasting opposites, but in this work they're both contained, in each photo. The photos aren't completely realistic, because they contain non-realistic, fantastic elements (colors) and aren't totally fictitious either, because its main theme are totally realistic places, sights, scenes, sculptures and buildings from the city. Though it's about mixing fiction with reality. Fiction and reality get mixed up, and sometimes the sensation as one looks at the pictures can be that it's hard to know at which point one ends and the other begins. It also mixes the obvious with the non-obvious. It dresses up places, sights, scenes, sculptures and buildings from Salvador in an unusual, fantastic, extravagant end gorgeous way. 

I consider the first time people saw places, sights, scenes, sculptures and buildings like these, they've caught their attention, but as time went by and they've been seen many times, when people go by they barely look at them, don't give them any or much attention. This is banality. But Salvador Re-Dressed in Reds invites them to see these places, sights, scenes, sculptures and buildings again, not the way they are and they're used to see them, but in a completely new and very different way. In a way that is not there in the real world, but only in the photo-artistic work. The subjects photographed and seen differently from the obvious for the first time bring an UNPRECEDENTED VISUALITY, a visuality that has never been experienced before. This breaks down monotony, this is news. It's re-working something that already exists and giving it a new look. It's re-dressing it with a new outfit.
